About Public Programs

The New-York Historical Society regularly plays host to the most eminent historians, writers, and thinkers in the nation.

The heart of the New-York Historical Society public program activity is the Bernard and Irene Schwartz Distinguished Speakers Series. And on select Friday evenings New-York Historical presents the Bernard and Irene Schwartz Classic Film Series.

Through the generosity of Mr. Schwartz, New-York Historical has been able to bring a wide array of extraordinary lectures and dynamic conversations to New York’s Upper West Side. Our broad range of programs feature topics in history and current affairs, highlights from current exhibitions, film discussions, and musical performances.
