Description:
Oak Eastlake music stand; top consisting of shallow rectangular box with hinged lid that may be lifted and set at various angles, with shaped apron with incised decoration; hinged triangular music support folds flat against front edge of lid; pedestal base consisting of a turned and carved column with swivel joint secured by four wooden pegs (three of which are missing) supported on four legs with scrolled tops and incised decoration; paper with handwritten inscription affixed to inside of box.

This music stand, presented to the acclaimed singer Emma Thursby in 1875, is said to be made of wood from the roof of the old North Dutch Church, erected in 1767 at the corner of Fulton, William and Ann Streets, New York City.
