Master of Arts in Museum Studies from CUNY School of Professional Studies
and the New-York Historical Society
The new Master of Arts in Museum Studies provides students with the knowledge, skills, and preparation to excel as professionals in the museum community. A collaboration with the CUNY School of Professional Studies, the program aims to diversify the museum workforce and address the needs of an increasingly diverse and engaged museum-going public.
From administration and finance to curation and education, the Master of Arts in Museum Studies educates students about all areas of museum work, including how to curate exhibitions, design educational services, and provide museum services with attention to all potential visitors.
To accommodate working adults eager to enter the field, the degree program is online, giving students the flexibility to take classes while working and pursuing other obligations. CUNY SPS online instruction is ranked among the highest in the nation, while the program’s practicum component at New-York Historical offers students the opportunity to use our rich and varied resources to gain on-site experience in curation, collections management, and museum operations.
Scholarship funds are available to candidates who qualify.
Scholarships are generously supported by Bernard L. Schwartz, Agnes Hsu-Tang, Ph.D. and Oscar Tang, and Ruth and Harold Newman.
